Learning something new

I’ve been spending my extra indoor time painting. It may have been ambitious for my first oil painting but it’s a 62x76cm canvas. Half of my height!

It started with this rough draft. My day job may have carried into this sketch… trending graph, maybe just me :p

I lose hours while painting. Such a relaxing way to spend the morning.

Oil paint takes a lot longer to dry then anything I’ve worked in. Days (!!!) versus minutes (watercolor) or hours (acrylic). It’s fantastic in term of building up the depth of a painting. Also gives me a chance to step back and course correct.

Session 2: The left side needed a bit more work as well as the water but it’s coming along!

Session 3: Finish! Once it has dried, I took the painting outside in natural light with my Nikon.
